D.H. Lawrence spent most of his life, after his elopement with Frieda Weekley, restlessly travelling the earth. Together they visited Ceylon, Australia, Mexico and the United States, as well as (repeatedly) Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and France. Lawrence was searching for a place where he might feel physically well, and where he would find human life lived as he thought it ought to be; the search was endless.
