D.H. Lawrence 3: Christianity

March 2014

Watch Podcast

D.H. Lawrence was brought up in Congregationalism, and although he left a belief in the exclusive truth of Christianity, he was always a theist – ceaselessly and energetically pursuing God, with the aid of the Holy Spirit, through the wilderness of the universe. As he did so, his friends and enemies frequently likened him to Christ – and he himself saw Christ as a great man who, like he himself, gave of himself too much.
