Howard Jacobson and Anti-Semitism

This lecture concentrates on Kalooki Nights, The Finkler Question, and Zoo Time by likening each to a Jewish Museum, such as Hephzibar opens in The Finkler Question. It argues that Judaism is a central concern in these novels, which ultimately are not so much ‘bad boys’ novels’ as many of those which Jacobson himself admires.

This paper was given as lecture at the Oxford University Institute for Continuing Education in October 2013.
